BIO
Victòria de Clascà
Songwriter · producer · voice & guitar
Victòria de Clascà (Barcelona, 1976) has been writing songs since she was ten. She grew up on stage, in blues, soul and rock bands. Under the name Bikimel she released three studio albums. After nearly ten years away from the stage, she returns under her own name with Twist of Fate, a voice-and-guitar tour.
Her first album, Stat Jònic (2009), placed her among the most distinctive voices on the Catalan scene — after the radio single L’Espantaocells reached Los 40 Principales (Spain’s Top 40, Catalan edition).
Press has underlined both craft and personality. Esteban Linés (La Vanguardia, 2015) called her “one of the most interesting voices of Catalan songwriting and folk-rock made here.” Jordi Bianciotto (El Periódico) praised Farrera, Can·Sons D.O. as the work of “an audacious creator,” a record that “emanates from nature itself.”
The Farrera, Can·Sons D.O. project (2013) grew out of an artist residency in the Pyrenees. The songwriter’s time in the village of Farrera became an album of songs and field recordings. That musical research took her to Siberia, where she went further into the study of throat singing. The record also includes a duet with Roger Mas.
In 2015 she released her third album, Morir d’un llamp, a folk songbook that includes a version of Quico Pi de la Serra’s “L’home del carrer”. She has sung on records by Roger Mas, Sanjosex, Mazoni, Guillamino, Miquel Gil and Gossos, and sang and produced “La Rosa” on the 2010 Disc de la Marató. Three songs from Stat Jònic are in the soundtrack of the TV3 series Polseres vermelles. On stage she led the Piromusical de la Mercè and Nàufrags at the Mercat de les Flors, both directed by Lluís Danés, and in 2018 premiered No ben bé at Born de Cançons, with Xavi Lloses on piano. Finalist three times for Lluís Llach’s Terra i Cultura prize, for setting poetry to music.
